About us

Kenya Library and Information Services Consortium was established in 2003 with the main objective of collective subscription to electronic resources to cope with the increasing cost of information resources. Subsequently, it was agreed that the Consortium would draw its membership from University Libraries, Research institutions, Public/National Libraries.

Prof. Joseph Kavulya

Chairperson

University Librarian, The Catholic University of Eastern Africa (CUEA)

Joseph M. Kavulya currently works at the University Library, The Catholic University of Eastern Africa. Joseph does research in Human-computer Interaction, Data Mining and Information Systems (Business Informatics). Their current project is ‘Curriculum development for MSc. Information Science.’

JaneGrace Kinyanjui

Mrs. Janegrace Kinyanjui is the University Librarian at Egerton University; she held a similar position at Kabarak University. She holds a Diploma in Human Resource Management from Kenya Institute of Management, Master of Science in Information Science from School of Information Studies for Africa (SISA) Addis Ababa, and a Bachelor of Arts from Egerton University.

Mrs. Kinyanjui has specialized in Management of Information Systems and Libraries, Collection Development and Management, and Information Systems Analysis & Design.

Dr Sylvia Ogola

University Librarian, United States International University

Dr. Sylvia Ogola is currently the University Librarian, United States International University-Africa. She was previously a Librarian Maseno University and the British Council Library in Kisumu.

She holds a B.Ed. (Economics and Geography) from Kenyatta University, an MA in Information and Library Studies from Loughborough University, UK and a Doctor of Philosophy in Information and Library Studies from Moi University.

 

She is a librarian with twenty eight years’ experience in both public and private universities.  Skilled in translating library services and policies into tangible, comprehensible resources forusers. Experienced in the management of libraries, and discovering staff potential.

Dr. Gitau Njoroge

Dr. Njoroge joined Kenyatta University in June 2011 as the Chief University Librarian. Prior to joining Kenyatta University, he worked at Strathmore University since November 2008 as the University Librarian.
Before joining Strathmore he worked with Moi University for twenty years, eight of which he was the head of library services in Chepkoilel campus. He has taught for many years in the school of information Science (library automation) and School of Science in the department of Computer Science.

Mr. Arnold Mwanzu

Arnold Mwanzu is the Information Resource Centre Coordinator/ Head librarian at icipe. Previously he worked as a senior librarian at USIU Africa. He holds a Masters in Information Science from Kenyatta University; a Masters of science in Organizational development from USIU-Africa and an MIS certification from University of Antwerp in Belgium. He is currently pursuing his PhD in information science at Moi University. He is an IFLA OCLC fellow and also a standing committee member of the preservation and conservation committee of IFLA.
